Why client-side beats upload removers for private files
At a glance
- DropMeta never uploads.
- No sign-in.
- Strip stays on device.
| Aspect | DropMeta | Typical upload tool |
|---|---|---|
| Upload to server? | No — never uploads | Yes — files go to a server |
| Account? | No sign-in | Often required or encouraged |
Caveat: upload tools may support more edge formats; DropMeta rejects encrypted PDF and fMP4.
FAQ and limits
Is no-upload safer?
For private files, yes — nothing leaves your device, so you avoid server storage, logs and third-party access risk from an upload.
What if I need server OCR or similar?
That is out of scope for DropMeta. Use a dedicated server tool when you need OCR or other cloud processing; keep metadata stripping client-side when privacy matters.
